What's Nearby?
It is easy to get your hair cut, buy a nice bottle of wine, pick up a pizza or make a deposit in the bank when you live in Westmere. You can even walk to Town Hall and talk to the Mayor.
Everyday Conveniences
Chestermere Station, located right in the community, features a Canada Safeway, Shoppers Drug Mart and Tim Horton’s as well other as other good choices. There are 3 other shopping & service centres in town, just a short drive away.
Indoor and Outdoor Recreation
Chestermere Lake is, of course, Westmere’s primary summer and winter attraction. Think ice skating, sailing, swimming, wandering along the shore or just letting your eyes rest on peaceful expanse of water.
Right next to Westmere you’ll find John Peake Park. It is already a fabulous place to spend time, with public boat launch, picnic area and play areas. It’ll be getting even better thanks to a major investment by the Government of Alberta. Starting in 2011, the province plans to spend $1 million upgrading the Park’s promenade and shoreline.
For avid cyclists, there is a pathway that connects into Calgary’s pathway system, and another that circumnavigates the town. Those who prefer smaller wheels mounted on a board will find places to ride in the nearby skateboard park.
The Community Recreation Centre has twin arenas, a gym, a curling rink, ball diamonds, soccer fields and is home to the Beavers, Cadets as well as the local Tae Kwon Do, Karate and Quilters clubs.
Another popular recreation destination is the Lakeside Greens Golf & Country Club.
